The sky above Onyx Island split open like cracked glass.
Sonic skidded to a stop at the edge of the cliff, blue quills bristling as a violent wind surged from the distortion ahead. The ocean below churned unnaturally, waves freezing mid-crash before snapping back into motion again. Time itself was stuttering.
“Yeah… that’s totally normal,” Sonic muttered, planting his feet. “Every time I try to take a vacation.”
A flash of silver light streaked past him, slamming into the rocky shore below.
Sonic grinned. “And there’s my cue.”

A Future That Refuses to Die
Silver the Hedgehog pushed himself up from the crater he’d made, eyes blazing with psychic energy. The present-day world felt wrong to him—too unstable, too close to collapse. He could feel the future unraveling with every passing second.
“It’s happening again,” Silver said under his breath. “The same distortion… the same energy signature.”
A familiar shadow landed behind him.
Shadow the Hedgehog stood silently, arms crossed, crimson-striped quills fluttering in the wind. “Eggman Nega,” he said flatly. “He’s tampering with time again.”
Silver turned sharply. “Then you know what this means. If we don’t stop him here, the future—”
“—will burn,” Shadow finished. “I know.”
Before either could move, a metallic screech echoed across the island.

The Copy Without a Soul
Metal Sonic emerged from the ruins, eyes glowing a cold, merciless red. His frame shimmered, energy coursing through upgraded systems far beyond Dr. Eggman’s usual designs.
Silver took a step back. “That robot… it’s stronger than before.”
Shadow’s eyes narrowed. “It’s not just upgraded. He’s been synchronized with the time distortions.”
Metal Sonic didn’t speak. He never did. He simply attacked.
The clash was immediate and violent—psychic force slamming into metal claws, Chaos energy detonating against steel armor. The ground fractured beneath them as time skipped forward and backward in jagged bursts.
And then—
“Whoa! Miss me?”
Sonic burst into the fight like a blue comet, slamming Metal Sonic away with a spinning kick. He skidded to a stop beside Shadow, giving him a sideways grin.
“Still brooding, huh?”
Shadow smirked faintly. “Still reckless.”
Silver exhaled in relief. “Sonic… good. We’ll need all the help we can get.”

Espio’s Warning
High above the battlefield, unseen and unheard, Espio the Chameleon observed from the shadows. His communicator flickered to life.
“Confirmed,” he whispered. “Eggman Nega and Dr. Eggman are working together. They’re collecting Chaos Emerald energy from multiple timelines.”
A pause.
“Yes… I understand. If they succeed, reality won’t survive the merge.”
Espio vanished in a shimmer of invisibility, already moving toward the next objective.

Rivals Collide
The island trembled as Metal Sonic rose again, systems adapting, calculating.
Sonic cracked his knuckles. “Alright, shiny. Round two.”
Shadow stepped forward. “This time, we end it.”
Silver hovered into the air, psychic aura flaring. “For the future.”
They charged together—three hedgehogs, three paths, one destiny.
Above them, unseen gears turned as Eggman Nega laughed from within his temporal fortress, watching rivals clash exactly as planned.
“Fight, heroes,” he sneered. “Every second you struggle brings the end of time closer.”
But what he failed to calculate—what he never calculated—was the strength forged when rivals stopped running alone.
And as the Chaos Emeralds began to resonate across eras, the true battle for existence was only beginning.
